Chopta Tungnath Trek

Description

Chopta is a peaceful and lush hill station in Uttarakhand. There’s much to explore here. It is the nexus point of the Panch Kedars (Kedarnath, Rudranath, Madmaheshwar, Kalpeshwar, and Tungnath). It is called the ‘Mini Switzerland’ of India, positioned at a height of 2680 meters (8790 feet). Chopta Uttarakhand is surrounded by lush green forests. It is an amazing offbeat weekend destination. Best time to visit Chopta is April to November. It provides surreal views of peaks Nanda Devi, Trishul and Chaukhamba. Chopta valley Uttarakhand temperatures ranging between 10°C and 32°C in summers and -15°C to 5°C in winters. This hamlet is the base for trekking up to Tungnath, the highest Shiva temple in the world. It is 225 kilometers upwards of Haridwar.

Detailed Day Wise Itinerary

  • Day : 1 Delhi to Chopta Drive

    The journey starts from Delhi. Then the journey to Chopta would begin. The drive would roughly take more than 15 hours. When you arrive at Chopta, finish your check in procedures and head to get some refreshment. Relax in your camp and stay there for the night.

  • Day : 2 Chopta to Tungnath & Chandrashila trek

    Wake up early in the morning, have your tea and breakfast at the camp and then head out for Tungnath & Chandrashila. It is located at an elevation of 3680 meters from the mean sea level. The trail to to Tungnath is not as easy as it seems to be. Here you will stay in the campsites during the night. After you complete the trek, check in to the encampments. Freshen up and have your dinner. Relax and prepare for the next day.

  • Day : 3 Departure Chopta to Delhi

    This is the closing day of the trip. Have your breakfast at the camp and then start out to explore Deoria Tal on the way back to your home. This place is an ideal setting for Himalayan bird viewing and offers 220 degrees of the panoramic view of the Himalayan mountain peaks. Return to Delhi after spending some time at the place.
